Makindye Ssabagabo Municipal Council invites the general public to submit views on the Local Governments (Makindye Ssabagabo Municipal Council) (Waste Management) Bill, 2025
Purpose of the bill
The bill seeks to provide; for the control, storage, collection, transportation, treatment, processing and disposal of waste generated within Makindye Ssabagabo Municipal Council.
Objectives
The objectives of this Bill are to:
Regulate waste management private companies;
- Regulate the management of waste in both domestic and commercial premises;
- Regulate transportation of solid waste and to Provide specifications for garbage collection trucks;
- Operationalize the existing laws and regulations relevant to waste management;
- Inculcate the culture of having solid waste containers by all premises
- Control littering in the Municipal Council;
- Empower community residents to take ownership of solid waste management;
- Set fines and penalties; and
- Set solid waste collection fees.
